Terry,

I've got the same problem with an HP Deskjet 6122.  I can get it to 
print using the generic deskjet driver but only B&W.  I haven't been 
able to put any time into getting it working but in the little surfing 
that I did I know others have it working with the hpijs driver.  If you 
track down the log files with debug on you'll find that it is choking on 
a file write failure.  I don't remember the exact place or file but it's 
consistent.  Just set the log level to debug in the cups config file to 
find it.

If you find the solution please post it, I'll do the same if I find it.
