This article answers all the questions of multibooting with LILO:
This will work fine no matter how incompatible the
two Linuxes might be, in their kernels, glibc,
lilo versions, /boot this or that, etc.
First make "Piglet" install its lilo in its own partition,
say hda7, not in the MBR. Piglet's lilo.conf will need
no other changes.
Here is the section for your other, non-Piglet Linux's lilo.conf:
other=/dev/hda7
label = piglet
loader=/boot/chain.b
Run lilo after changing lilo.conf of course!
Works for me!
