[NTLUG:Discuss] Mandrake Kernel Patch question

[Bug Hunter]

  Without starting a distro war, has anyone ever tried downloading the 
Mandrake kernel and apply the patches to it?  There are so many, and there 
is an awk file, but it doesn't seem to work (or I don't know how to run 
it).

  I'm curious as to the right steps.  Googling did not help.

  I'm dealing with version 8.2 for stability reasons and tool reasons. 
(Kylix supports it, for one)
