I just caught this thread, but on the two issues below, don't blame Red
Hat, blame the HW/Bios manufacturers that do not understand how to
properly implement APICs. For the installer to work, when you get the
boot prompt, simply type : linux noapic
I think newer versions of VMWare should be getting around this now. The
release notes go into some of the information as to why they changed it,
but basically it came down to a question of why leave things improper
for most systems just to make it easier for those who do things
incorrectly. Interestingly, I believe Suse is doing the same thing now.
