Too bad you don't like Dell. A local guy sells refurbished Dell servers
and only advertises them on eBay. You can pick them up locally.
PowerEdge C500/800 boxes have a solid track record, especially with Linux.
xSeries IBM boxes can be purchased "refurbished" on their web site in
your price range.
In the price range you're considering, you might consider building a
white box from Fry's.
Resource Concepts also could have servers of any kind. They turn lots of
