RedHat 7.3 does the same thing. I have a laptop and at work the mouse
is plugged in directly. At home, the same make and model mouse
(trackball) is plugged into the KVM. About 1/4th of the time, Kudzu
says the mouse has changed. I just let it time out and continue
booting. It leaves the old, correct, config and all is well.

Since the confusion happens on the KVM (mines a Belkin), I would guess
that its something to do with differences in timing of signals.
