Dennis,

If it doesn't say outright that it protects cable modems (coaxial cable) 
then it probably doesn't.  I believe there are a few that do I just 
don't have any names.  Some may claim it (cable  modem/DSL) and only 
support RJ45 which doesn't protect the modem(s) themselves. (only the 
connection from the modem to your NIC)
