Thank you for that comment.  Has anyone actually confirmed that?  And 
also, there is still the hardware compatibility issue - Linux has never 
been famous for supporting the newest hardware right away, so I have to 
assume a pre 2.4 kernel is going to have some issues with a newer machine.
