XP has a built-in firewall, so I guess it was turned off
or mis-configured?

Why not take some old hardware and set up a Linux box
as a firewall and router instead of trying to use an
offline machine (which we both know won't _stay_ offline)?

I don't think anyone should be connected to broadband
without a firewall. I've been on ADSL for at least 5
years and only about 15 minutes of that was without
a firewall.

During the past 24 hours I've received 1,475 port 135
connection attempts. Can you afford to "take your
chances" with that?

Rick
