[NTLUG:Discuss] Print driver preferences...

This question comes from a strange problem I'm seeing when I print out
your emails (the ones that respond to problems I've been having...I like
to have something I can look at on paper while I'm working on
something), the font showing in Evolution is something (can't really
tell what the font is because I haven't found anything telling me which
one it is except plain text) and when I do a print preview or print the
email, the font is completely different...it's some highly stylized
italic font that is extremely hard to read.

I'm running lpd for printing, never messed with CUPS only because lpd is
what RedHat initialized when installing. It seems to work ok for most
things with my Lexmark Z52 printer, but the last couple of emails I've
printed have both come out in the italic font. I checked the lpd.conf
file and there sure is a lot of crap in there, but it's all commented
out. I didn't see anything about fonts in there, but I could have
missed it as it seems like there's over 700 lines in it.

First, is there something I've missed in Evolution to set the fonts it
uses? I can't seem to find anything in the settings to tell it what
font to use for printing and lpd.conf didn't seem to help either.

Second, do you use lpd, CUPS or something else and why? Which would be
best to use with this printer or is the answer to that a subjective
thing best used to wage flame wars with (i.e., a religious preference
question).

Thanks,

Wayne
