I did that, and at one point was able to even print a test page from
there, but only from there. I just now tried and, well, not anymore.

I'm not sure what would be easiest, to just re-install RH9 and start over?

Problem probably is that this system was originally RH8, but I upgraded
it to RH9. In other words, I just booted to RH9 and chose the upgrade
option, and (probably) should have just done fresh install and saved my
home dir, but I didn't, I wanted to see how the upgrade option worked.
I guess now I'm paying for it.

Or not... I don't know for sure, just have suspicions. I don't know
what else it could be. All I know is I don't seem to be able to figure
it out. I just don't quite know enough to figure it out on my own and
it seems that being able to use a printer shouldn't be so tough.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm just not smart enough to have a printer, and
I should just give it to someone that's smarter and get my self a
typewriter. :)

Sorry to be such a pest.

Yea I did that, was able to print test page, but nowhere else.
It would still just say:
================================

sending job 'root at via+751' to OfficeJet500 at localhost
  connecting to 'localhost', attempt 1
cannot open connection to localhost - No such file or directory

I tried that too. I stopped cups-lpd restarted xinetd and that didn't
seem to have an effect. (But still not sure what cups-lpd does or is.)
