Terry,
I have not been following this thread so if I'm repeating here just
ignore it.
When I upgraded to MDK9.0 I had similar problems with cups. I could get
it to print from one box only and test pages from all of the boxes on
the network. None of the applications could print and I'd get the
cannot bind or port already in use error messages. I beat myself to
death on this for 3 days before I finally got it working.
To make a long story short what I found was that I needed to run the
cups server deamon from the same machine that the printer was physically
connected to and let all other machines find it using the broadcast
feature. To get this working I had to completely remove cups from every
machine and then reinstall the server machine. It seems that once cups
is hosed there is no fixing the config. I have MDK so I used their
config GUI to get the printer setup. Once I had the server working on
it's own I reinstalled each of the clients and let them find the server
using defaults. Now I don't even look at if funny for fear of something
breaking and having to do it again ;(
I don't know if this helps, but good luck.
