Howdy,
I can't point to another program right now. Nautilus is the only place
I can repeatedly demonstrate a dramatic memory leak. It does seem a little
slower overall than before I upgraded from 9.1 And, I don't use Nautilus
much. I used it when I first set up 9.2 to pick a background image, and it
was hard to miss the dramatic memory problem I like several of the
improvements, as well. Gnome is getting better. I plan on keeping 9.2 on
this machine for a while to evaluate. The other serious problem is the
"ability" to kill LG CDs. Neither problem is likely to be Mandrake
specific code. Both problems itell me there was insufficient testing. I
was waiting for 9.2 and was going to use it on my two most important
machines. Based on initial tests, I'll leave one at Mandrake 9.1 and
probably put SuSE on the other.
I don't think I said the whole distro was bad. I did say it seems to
have been released prematurely. Lots of people use Nautilus more than I
do. I would have trouble recommending Mandrake 9.2 in its present state to
a newbie with that problem. I expect they will get it taken care of, but I
will have to wait and see..
Good day,
Ralph
