Maybe I missed something along the line - I thought the issue here was 
getting a laptop without OS, not desktop or server.  desktops and 
servers without OS are generally a snap, just build your own or have one 
built from parts - I can do that all day long.  Laptops, the last I 
knew, were still an issue - I understood that one could acquire all the 
guts one might want, but no shells - that is one could build all the 
laptops one wanted as long as one didn't care that the parts were all 
fully exposed, and kind of just hanging out there in mid air.

Of course, I kind of picked up this thread in mid stream and so I could 
be way off.
