[NTLUG:Discuss] FTP Problems

Howdy Guys,
I am going to lose my mind on this one, and I thought I would appeal for
help. Google is not getting much help at all. I am running Redhat9, and
using vsftpd standalone not with xinetd. Everything was great, and I had it
using virtual users and pam. The entire FTP process was perfect, and
functioning. I am not sure what has changed but now logins are not working.
I am getting the following error upon trying to login.

421 Service not available, remote server has closed connection
Login failed.
No control connection for command: Transport endpoint is not connected

When I try and connect, I get the FTP banner, and it requests a login, and
password. If I supply the wrong credentials, I get a login error as shown
below.

530 Login incorrect.
Login failed.

But, if I supply correct information, I get the first error. I have no
freaking clue what is wrong. I have checked my pam stuff, and nothing has
changed that I know of. Can someone please help point me in the right
direction? I can supply any needed information or configuration files. The
only thing I can think of that I have done is install tripwire. Would that
have screwed up something?

Thanks for your help and time with this. Have a great day, and take care.
Paul Drew
