I played with tidy last night, but couldn't get it to work. The
documentation I had for tidy said the '-split' option (not '-slides')
works only with "Tidy Classic". After fiddling with it last night, I
despaired.

Your note inspired me to go to the website. There's a version of tidy
there from August 2000 that supports the '-slides' option. I guess
_that's_ what "Tidy Classic" is -- and the default tidy in Debian is
_not_ "Tidy Classic" (I had assumed that Tidy Classic was some set of
options for the current tidy.) In any case, the old tidy works.
Thanks.

Doesn't it seem weird that what seems to be the only program that
directly breaks html files into chunks should be a 3 year old program
that's been replaced by another program of the same name? I guess the
idea is that everyone is supposed to be writing documents in xml or
latex?
