About 6 months ago, I couldn't get rp-pppoe to work with my new ISP...I
had been running rp-pppoe for some time and even with different
providers but for some reason I just couldn't get it to work. The errors
in the logs were not giving me any hints. Then I stumbled across the
pppoe option in kernel config. After some googling, I found that the
wonderful kernel dev folks provided pppoe right in the kernel. Perhaps
the best documentation was found here:
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=77326 (its gentoo specific but
with minor modifcation could be used with any distro)
Although I have had many good experiences with rp-pppoe it was nice to
find an alternative when I needed it. I thought I'd share this with the
group.
Cheers,
-Rob
