I am probably breaking into the middle of this conversation, but I will
offer my insight... Dell, without a doubt does have some "screwy" wiring
schematics on the output side of their ATX psu's, as well as on the input
side of their newer motherboards. All of the wires are there, providing
correct voltages, you'll just have to meter them (using a dummy load of
course) and figure out which wires have been crossed. Of course, this
knowledge is about 2-3 years old, based on when I was doing factory
authorized field repairs for them...... Meter the wires and see what their
outputs are, then proceed with "engineering" a new psu to work....
Best of luck,

Subject: [NTLUG:Discuss] OT:Hardware question
Hopefully someone can help out
computer A has power supply A
computer B has power supply B
power supply B works in computer A
power supply A works in computer B
power supply B works in computer B
power supply A DOES NOT work in computer A
Both computers run Linux (to keep on topic, sort of)
One more thing, computer A is so small that changing the power supply has
been
a bit of a task, I found a new one on the net , but it didn't work either
( power supply C in computer A )
Any tips, web sites to check ?
