Fred,

If you can use samba 2.2.8, there is a tardist available on SGI's freeware
site:

http://freeware.sgi.com/index-by-alpha.html

The list of dependencies are listed on this site, complete with prereqs and
dependencies:

http://freeware.sgi.com/prereq.cgi?product=samba

I didn't look deep enough to see if this would run on IRIX 6.4, but it
should. Inst is generally good at flagging problems, especially if you us
the <conflicts> option. The dependencies didn't list a specific release, of
which IRIX 6.5.23 is the most current, I think.

Good Luck,

Monty

Subject: [NTLUG:Discuss] OT: Compile problem on SGI IRIX 6.4 for Samba
2.0.4a

On running './configure' I got "ERROR: No Locking available. Running
Samba would be unsafe"
'./configure | grep -i lock' gives me these few lines (complete output
available on request):
<<
checking for sigblock... yes
checking for kernel oplock type definitions... no
checking for fcntl locking... no
checking for 64 bit fcntl locking... no
ERROR: No locking available. Running Samba would be unsafe
 >>
Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer.
Regards
Fred James
