My interest is in the future of Java as a viable cross platform vehicle. 
  While Java is not Linux specific, and some may argue that it's not a 
true open source product, it is well within the spirit of the open 
source goals.

Since Java is well supported across *nix platforms (including Linux), 
and will remain so as far as the eye can see, I'm concerned that MS may 
try and make it irrelevant by not supporting Java from IE.  Whether we 
like it or not, the 800lb gorilla can break some bones when it steps on you.
