Hi Paul.
Ummm, I don't always use Sun Tech. Especially for deployments. For that, I tend to use third-party, with IBM, BEA, and Blackdown being favorites
depending on what the problem I am trying to solve is.
And one of the pesky things about prepping for deployment is the testing involved in determining which manufacturer and platform provide the best
solution.
As for Java being the best solution ever? I agree with you in probably not. James Gosling has made a few statements supporting your position, and
HE invented the thing. As for the best tool compared to current tools? In many cases, yes. Many people are looking for or trying to make
something better than Java. Eventually they will succeed. At which point Java may well be relegated (with cheers from many parties, and regrets by
quite a few) to the Junk Heap of History. But that day has not yet arrived. So, I am off to do the best I can with the tools currently available.
Regards,
Steve
