Don't know about 3ware, but you are right - a lot of really low end RAID
hardware cards work invisibly and thus work great for any OS. To the
computer the card pretends to have just a Primary Master and Slave,
regardless of the fact that they're both RAID1 sets. The OS never knows the
difference.
I've got a SIL-680 card running on my Win2003Server, for example. While
they provide a driver, it's really just gravy, except for the ability to
monitor the real drives using S.M.A.R.T..
