I had the same problem with my BEFW11S4...just a few days after the
warranty period expired, the diag light was on and wouldn't go off.
This was in 2002.  Now, after going through three Linksys Cable/DSL 
routers over the past three years--the last of which died a month ago--
I switched to a Netgear router and so far it's working fine.  A friend
of mine has reported similar problems--she went through a few Linksys
routers as well before finally giving up on them.
