Sorry, but you're hosed. They changed Nautilus to Spatial in the most current
version and it stinks.
There is still a flexible file management system out there, its Konqueror, the
KDE file manager and it'll do exactly what you want (even if what you want is
to open a different window every time you click on a folder which is all
Spatial is).
Make your computer do what you want it to do (that's why you started using
open source to begin with). Ditch Gnome.
