I fully agree the term Engineer has been overused.

The only people that should be called "Engineers" have at least a Bachelor 
Science in Engineering (B.S.E.) in an Engineering Discipline.  Calling 
garbage collectors Sanitation Engineers, or programmers Software Engineers 
is wrong.

You want to be called an Engineer, go to an Engineering School for 4-5 
years and get a B.S.E. degree.
