Pervaz, you need to use the modem the telco is using. Just because someone
else had one that worked doesn't mean they're using the same modem for your
line as they would for theirs. There are different DSLAMs in the CO made
by different manufacturers and your modem needs to be compatible with what
they're using in the CO for your line. When you set up your DSL service,
the telco will send you the right modem. You DO already have an account
set up, don't you? Just plugging up a modem to a phone line won't get you
anywhere without the service set up.
You said it worked fine on a Windows 98 partition. Do you mean Win98
recognized the modem ok and that you're able to pass traffic (which means
you have a valid account) or do you just mean that Windoze recognizes the
modem? We need more info.

I got it for free from someone who used it here localy with this same
Telco.
Works on Win 98
