yikes! I can see maybe using a combination of two products for one
solution... but you start getting up to 3 or 4 differnt products and
that just sounds like a update/maintenance nightmare.

I know of places that combine forums (phpBB) + wiki + e-mail + IM/IRC.
Each technology is good for different niches/problem spaces.
IM/IRC (instant messaging/internet relay chat) - rapid
feedback/debugging/troubleshooting
phpBB - evolving discussions with lag
wiki - summaries/notes with links to phpBB or IM
e-mail - send notices to others to check wiki
