If you can contact the manufacturer and get specs for your monitor, you 
can tell something about it, otherwise, it's just guesswork, you may 
burn it out trying different settings.

Often times, there is helpful information printed on the back of the 
monitor, or somewhere on the case.  Do a little detective work.

BTW, just out of curiosity, what size is it?
