Some of us don't have a choice. At work, I have Lotus Notes for email and
it automatically top-posts for us. I've never had any luck trying to do
any other kind of posting at work. At home, I use Evolution so it's not a
problem there. I can top-post, bottom-post, side-post, upside down post,
sub-space post, whatever I want to do there. Can't do it at work though,
sooooo....I suppose that's an issue that will be around forever.

Bryan,
I just had to chime in and break a rule in the process. Bottom-post?
Ugh! What weak minded twaddle (not yours, the mastermind behind the
original FAQ). Bottom-posting presupposes that one cannot remember what
has previously been said and needs to reread the thread, not once, not
twice, not three times, not four times, not five times, not well, you
get the idea, but as many times as the thread is quoted. I've been on
the net since, man I honestly don't remember, I guess since the early
1990's. Before that it was BBSing with a 1200 baud modem. Thing is, one
day, some guy (maybe it WAS Bill O'Reilly, sounds kind of like a right
wing conspiracy sort of thing) decided that bottom-posting was preferred
and I'm just sad that the other guy (maybe it was Tim O'Reilly) didn't
set him straight that it doesn't matter, top/bottom/side/inline posting,
so long as ideas are being communicated and not blather. My personal
preference, has always been and will likely continue to be top-posting.
However, I tend to try to maintain continuity and not disrupt the flow -
so, if a thread is composed of bottom-postings, I'll oblige with
bottom-posting - today I'm feeling mischievous.
Now, where were we, oh yeah, staying on topic (not) - anybody sign up
for that free Solaris 10 DVD offer?
Just pokin' fun, keep the flames light, please :)
