A big clue is right there on the disk. Disk 2 is supposed to let you
let you try the Ximian Desktop. Even today, SuSE 9.1 is not listed as a
supported version of Linux for XD2. So, they had to include an earlier
version to let you test XD2. Now, why they picked 8.2, instead of 9.0
is another question and I don't know about that. See:
