Guys,
Need some help configuring a multi-headed setup. I have a laptop with
external monitor connections. I've confirmed under Win2K that the
laptop/chipset can do a multi-headed/spanned display (under windows).
When I boot into Fedora Core (yes, version 1 - hope to upgrade, but
since this machine 'normally' is just email - no real hurry except that
it's my ONLY machine for this week while away).
Went to NVIDIA to grab latest/greatest - won't help because it's X.org
based - while Fedora Core uses Xfree86. I've configured the display
both with the 'helper display app' and hand-configuring the
/etc/X11/XF86Config file....no luck because even though second display
comes up - it's got funky colors ASCII characters....they do change if I
change what's on main screen).
Help!? I've included the 'booted' XF86Config file - as it should be
configured LCD as primary with CRT (external) as secondary - but it
wants to keep rewriting it? Maybe that's the source of my
issues)....either way, here's /etc/X11/XF86Config:

# To disable the XKEYBOARD extension, uncomment XkbDisable.
# Option "XkbDisable"
# To customise the XKB settings to suit your keyboard, modify the
# lines below (which are the defaults). For example, for a non-U.S.
# keyboard, you will probably want to use:
# Option "XkbModel" "pc102"
# If you have a US Microsoft Natural keyboard, you can use:
# Option "XkbModel" "microsoft"
#
# Then to change the language, change the Layout setting.
# For example, a german layout can be obtained with:
# Option "XkbLayout" "de"
# or:
# Option "XkbLayout" "de"
# Option "XkbVariant" "nodeadkeys"
#
# If you'd like to switch the positions of your capslock and
# control keys, use:
# Option "XkbOptions" "ctrl:swapcaps"
# Or if you just want both to be control, use:
# Option "XkbOptions" "ctrl:nocaps"
