Problem solved, sorry to bother you.  It was a matter of not having the right 
entry for my host in postfix cf file.  Fetchmail prepended a "localhost" to 
every item it tried to deliver and postfix rejected the address.  Adding 
localhost.localserver to the list of hosts solved the problem.
