Thanks for the post on TheOpenCD.  This really is the best option for 
those of us who want to educate others to the opensource concept but 
know that the end-user isn't ready to take on the linux struggle 
themselves.  Running open applications on windows systems is most 
definitely a step that any computer user can do right away without any 
additional effort.  The fact is that we are computer enthusiasts and 
professionals where as the masses are simply users.  No change will ever 
take place unless these users will adopt it and that means it must be 
"hassle-free"(i.e. reliable and intuitive) in their eyes.

I've been trying to advocate much of this software separately to my 
friends, family, and coworkers, but having it all in one CD is so much 
more effective since I can burn it and pass it around instead of hoping 
that someone will put forth the effort of looking-for and downloading 
the apps themselves.

Open source software still has a hard road to hoe as far as being widely 
accepted as legitimate and viable, especially in corporate settings, but 
efforts like this is how lasting change will be made.
