First off, I have to be humbled by the product confusing.
I rely on many enthusiast sites,
and they are conflicting on many things.

I like Justin's comment as well, but let me clarify my point.
If nVidia sold a PCIe card that only did x8,
the enthusiasts would bitch and moan about it.

Many PC enthusiasts don't stop to look at the some 5-7 different variables in technology.
The want to overquote but 1.
"Front Side Bottleneck--er, Bus" (FSB) is my favorite.
One of the reasons why I wrote the 2004 November Sys Admin article was not so much for the PC enthusiast,
but for the RISC/UNIX traditionalist to say,
"yes, the PC workstation/server has finally 'grown up.'"

Enthusiasts are all about the latest 1 variable marketing.
"Hey man, I've got a 1,066MHz FSB and DDR2 memory to match!"
No matter how I try to explain to them that most cheaper DDR2 modules have worse latency times than DDR,
you can't break through to them.

So if nVidia sold an 6800 card that was only capable of utilizing 8 or just 4 PCIe channels in DTR from a bridged AGP,
you know the enthusiasts would scream murder for the full 16 channels..
But from an engineering feasibility viewpoint, that's exactly what I think they should do.

Now that's a quotable quote!!

Made my day!
Love it.
