[NTLUG:Discuss] Connecting Linux to Microsoft LAN

I'm on a large office network.  I'm running  the RH Workstation with 
VMWare running Windows XP.  This all works very well, and of course, XP 
connects to the network file system.

Could someone explain how I set up Linux to access the network file 
system?  I'm just looking for an overview and some tips to get me started.

I'm not running any sort of server.  I just want the same access to the 
files as I have under Windows.
