I've installed Linux on a Dell Inspiron laptop, having cleaned the disk
of all Windows and Dell software. The disk had a small partition with
some Dell trouble-shooting utilities.
I'm also running a Dell workstation that came with RH Linux installed.
There's no Dell-specific software running on it. I'd assume you don't
need any of the Dell SW.
