Have you driven OS X lately? The development tools on the development
disk are, IMO, outstanding (and yes, I've been developing software for
a long time).
I don't want to start a pissing contest, but I would also hate to see
a lot of generalizations tossed about, especially those made up of
half-truths.
To keep this on topic: Linux has a lot to offer, and so does OS X.
And I believe Jobs' announcement that Apple will move to an Intel
platform is not a good move from Apple's perspective, as they will no
longer be able to position themselves as adding value to a
commoditized product, especially when there are superior open source
alternatives for the same platform. Sometimes I question whether Jobs
is doing what is best for Apple, or whether he's simply looking out
for himself and his immediate future.
Now that Transmeta has closed shop, maybe Linus ought to take a trip
to Cupertino :)
