Nah, you didn't miss anything and you aren't a Linux Fanboy, despite
appearances. Linux really is just as simple to use as Mac OS X. It's
totally FREE, and, as you know, even non-techies couldn't be happier
with their Linux boxes. Mac + Mac OS X is just a flash in the pan that
is so overpriced ($499 for a Mac Mini with Mac OS X Tiger) that it is
barely conceivable that they could ever hope to be compared with Linux
in anything faintly resembling a positive light. How dare those Mac OS X
Fanboys even voice an opinion.
Almost totally tongue in cheek. I really like Linux and I don't think
that Mac hookin' up with Intel is going to be the catalyst that causes
Mac OS X to displace Linux. However, the day I bought my Mac was the day
I lost my Suse/Libranet/Redhat disks. Thankfully a little digging
brought me to Ubuntu (which, btw, is an awesome distribution), but, it's
gotta be noted that I made Mac OS X, the default selection in yaboot.
It is my sincere hope that Linux can learn from Mac OS X and Darwin as
well as Mac OS X has learned from Linux. I also hope that Mac OS X
continues to improve and move towards even more open standards.
If wishes was fishes...
Later,
Will
