I can confirm that, the Belkin drops power to the mouse when switching,
the mouse is a Microsoft IntellMouse Explorer 3.0 USB / PS2 mouse. The
LED in the mouse goes away when switching between machines.

For the money it will cost, not worth it at the moment. Since I figured
out how to force the thing to work it's OK. I am going to add a
momentary push button switch to the circuit so I can interupt the power
more easily however.
