Actually if you want something moderatly cheap (<$200) and works now
with full hardware encoding of MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, or MJPEG in Linux
today with GPL'ed drivers the Plextor supplys that now.
It does work with some Linux apps today. MythTV is a bit one and it's
easy to add Plextor support to any open source app. The drivers are
really easy to work with.
