[NTLUG:Discuss] Remote file system

I'm looking for a "good" (whatever that means - basically one that 
works, is secure and reasonably easy to use) remote file system.

NFS seems to work but I keep hearing that there are security issues, may 
just be percieved but nonetheless there.
Samba - I'm having all kinds of 'interesting' behavior with it right now.

What else is available?  I've heard of OpenAFS, LUFS and possibly 
SecureFS (can't find my notes).  What's available?  What works?  What's 
capable?
