Inside your firewall, or outside?

Inside NFS is fine, runs reasonably fast, is well supported, and overall 
works seamlessly to users.  Combined with autofs and symbolic links you 
can generally forget about it once its setup.

I'm not too sure I'd make a FS mount point available to the outside world.
