Has anyone here successfully mounted their Gmail account via gmailfs?

If so, care to share your notes?  I did an 'apt-get install gmailfs',  
chose the defaults, and then tried to use the mount command with  
gmailfs.  But I kept getting an error that modprobe couldn't find the  
fuse module.  man pages and Google didn't provide any obvious clues.

Any pointers would be appreciated.
