Everyone seems to be very pleased with it. And it must be working for
Linux machines. 

What do you mean "their non-standard networking"?  Is it going to be a
problem setting it up to talk to my firewall/router?

It looks like they provide a router.  Is it a router like a router you
can get at Fry's or Microcenter,(Linksys, Soho etc) where you have the
ability to block incoming traffic, or route incoming ports to certain
machines, or do I need a separate router/firewall for that? Does it
provide DHCP service also?
