Those are probably just the default bookmarks that comes with the
install. You should find the ones you're actually using are in your
home directory. i.e. something like this:

/home/charles/.mozilla/firefox/default.##x/bookmarks.html

Note: you will probably also see:
/home/charles/.mozilla/firefox/default.##x/US/bookmarks.html
but those are [again] just the default bookmarks that come on the install.

In the Bookmarks Manager menu there's an option to import and export
bookmarks and you should be able to just use that and I think all it
does is copy that .html file to a location of your choice but when you
get to the other computer and use "import", it doesn't just over-write
the ones you have, it keeps what you have and adds to them (in a
sub-directory), so that you end up with both new and old bookmarks.
And that method goes something like this.
Bookmarks --> Manage Bookmarks --> File --> import or export

You can do it either way - manually overwrite the file, or use the gui
menu, depending on whether you want to add to what's there or replace
it.

I think some people use a "thumb-drive" with their "profile" directory
on it and just specify it when running firefox. Something like this:
  mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/memstick
  firefox -p /mnt/memstick/profile.##x
But I don't have any personal experience with that, all I've ever done
is the import / export method.

But I think that overwriting the file is what you may be looking for
because the export / import method keeps both, the new and old in the
resulting bookmarks.html file and if you don't want the old stuff, you
have to use "Manage Bookmarks" again and delete the stuff you don't
want.

You can also just copy bookmarks.html to a thumb drive or CD or floppy
and surf to it.
In other words just view it in a conventional way with your browser.
Type in the full path to your bookmarks file in firefox's address bar.
 i.e.
  /mnt/memstick/bookmarks.html
or
  /mnt/floppy/bookmarks.html
or
  /mnt/cdrom/bookmarks.html
and revert back to it anytime you need another link from it.
That's what I do, I just keep bookmarks.html on a thumb drive and
refer to it as needed. ....But I suppose I could very well just
over-write the file on any other installation if I wanted to.
