Yup. It's just another IM. I really don't use it that much. It doesn't 
really offer that much beyond the major IM players. So, it's just a 
novelty. The web-based interface with gmail is nice though. Add in the 
ability to search your email and IM message history from the gmail 
interface and you're starting to have something here.

I don't mean to hijack this but... Can someone recommend an open source 
"google desktop" product that runs cross-platform? I remember hearing 
the mono folks talking about something, but I can't remember the name. I 
am one of the 10 people in the world that actually uses google desktop 
and I really like how it performs. The big brother potential does bother 
me a bit though.
