Thanks all:
I did reboot the cable modem, and run  /sbin/dhclient and I get the ISP ip 
information.

FYI
It is a different computer, a different network card and a different OS 
load, both of them have 2 NICs
(before fix the problem,) ifconfig shows the card  without an IP address.
All cards are PCI
