As we launch several challenging new projects, we seek an experienced
Software/Firmware Developer to join our team.

About the Opportunity
Working as part of a small development team, the Software/Firmware
Developer will be responsible for design, development, and integration
of drivers, real-time firmware, and application software in
Linux-based carrier-grade telecom products. The team has end-to-end
development responsibility, including detailed requirements
definition, HW/SW architecture, design integration, and roll-out
support. Team members have broad technical experience, strong
communication skills, and excellent technical judgment. We offer a
flexible work environment with many opportunities for technical growth
and leadership.

The key near-term responsibilities of this position include:

• Porting the Linux kernel to new hardware. Design and development of
Linux drivers and application programs, requiring detailed analysis of
hardware/software interactions.
• Design and development of APIs, MIBs, and User Interfaces for
complex carrier-grade telecom products such as SONET/SDH interfaces,
multiprocessor compute blades, and security/encryption processors.
• Hardware/software integration, including test planning and
execution, problem analysis and resolution, performance tuning, and
support of early customer trials.

Qualifications
Experienced Software / Firmware Developer.

• 5+ years of progressively complex development experience, using
C/C++ in a Linux or UNIX environment. Must have substantial experience
with telecom (preferred), medical, industrial control, military, or
similar complex high-availability products.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with hardware/software integration. Demonstrated ability
to write and debug software that interacts with complex hardware.
• Experience with Linux driver development, Linux Support Package
(LSP) integration, and Linux network administration is strongly
desired.
• Experience with TCP/IP network protocols and typical network
administration practices.
• Experience with carrier grade telecom practices, interfaces, and
protocols is strongly desired. Experience with SONET/SDH interfaces,
Automatic Protection Switching, and redundant systems is especially
valuable.
