Is there a place where the results of the interactive part of startup is 
recorded?  Seems like dmesg ends about that point.

During startup, does init pass the parameter 'start' to all of the 
scripts it runs for the runlevel?  If not, how do they know what to do?

Was reading up on LVM and kept seeing references to Red Hat.  Is this a 
"Red Hat (and clone) thing" or does SuSE use it as well?  If it doesn't, 
does it have a "replacement?"
