We have a Sony VAIO - sadly, you have to pay the M$ tax.  Kick-ass
nVidia graphics - everything seems to work 100% with SuSE Linux out
of the box.  No modem - but I'm sure there is a USB gizmo you could
get...or maybe a PCMCIA modem.
